MEDITATION OF SIMPLY NOTICING HELPS US TO SETTLE

Emotions, no matter how they manifest, are not something that simply happens to us , but rather are something that we create and use strategically for a particular purpose.

Witnessing our emotional experiences does not mean that we have to rationalise or intellectualise about our emotions. Through first hand experience , simply remaining with ourselves without contrivance, we experience emotions free of interpretations and labels.

Over time we can learn to rest with our mental and emotional activity without adding self-deceptive layers and motive, without falling into the trap of rationalizing them and explaining them away. When we do that we have simply set up a different form of defense that can also help us avoid developing a more intimate understanding of emotions.
Emotions in some sense are learned skills so it is a matter of learning another type of skill so that we can make better use of our emotions.
